Rose City Film Competition


The Windsor Endowment for the Arts (WEA) has partnered with Gear House Windsor and Canadian Arts Productions Inc. to present the first annual ROSE CITY FILM COMPETITION to celebrate, encourage and award emerging filmmakers in Southwestern Ontario.

The purpose of the competition is to motivate emerging filmmakers to create a short film to add to their portfolios and to apply the techniques they learned in film school to the real world.

The competition is open to all secondary or post-secondary students over the age of 18 who are currently enrolled in school in Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and London-Middlesex who wish to submit a short film, under one (1) minute in length, with an emphasis on storytelling.

Cash prizes and other film-related benefits will be distributed to the finalists.

The deadline to enter is Sunday, August 28th at 11:59 PM.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October  15th at 7:00 PM at SHO Studios, 628 Monmouth Road, Windsor, Ontario.
