Windsor Endowment for the Arts (WEA) has partnered with internationally renowned portrait artist Paul Murray and his wife Kati Jane Murray to present an interdisciplinary arts benefit concert for professional VISUAL ARTISTS and MUSICIANS in Windsor-Essex who were detrimentally impacted by the strict public health safety measures of the last two years.

All proceeds from THE BEATLES & BEYOND benefit concert will support local professional visual artists and musicians through micro-grants distributed by WEA.

How to Help

1) Purchase Tickets and Attend the Event

2) Be an “ARTS ANGEL” and purchase tickets for someone less fortunate in the community

3) Apply for a micro-grant on behalf of a full-time professional artist you know. See “Arts Angel Application” section for more info.

4) If you are a professional visual artist or musician, apply for a micro-grant yourself.

The Beatles & Beyond concert will feature St. Clair Beach-born and internationally renowned visual artist Paul Murray speed painting huge pop-art portraits of the Fab Four before your eyes in unorthodox ways. You are sure to be amazed by Murray’s electrifying talent!

All the while, an All-Star lineup of musicians and singers will be performing the best of The Beatles and Wings music catalogue. Forget the wigs and costumes, they’ll be recreating the groove and beat of their greatest hits like never before.

The All-Star lineup of musical performers includes:

  • Gareth Pearsonacoustic guitar virtuoso dubbed “The Welsh Tornado” by legendary guitarist Tommy Emmanuel.
  • Wendell Ferguson Canada’s most awarded guitarist, Canadian Music Hall of Famer
  • The McCartney Years A Paul McCartney Tribute Band hailed as “The Best on the Scene” by former Beatles promoter Sid Bernstein

Music Talent from Windsor-Essex:

  • Brian Good member of The Good Brothers, 8-time Juno Award Winner, US & Canadian Music Hall of Famer

Support for Artists

All proceeds from THE BEATLES & BEYOND benefit concert will be distributed to local visual artists and musicians through micro-grants ranging from $500 – $3,000 by Windsor Endowment for the Arts.

Who is Eligible to Receive a Micro-Grant?

Any visual artist or musician who answers YES to ALL of the following:

  • Is a resident of the City of Windsor or one of the municipalities within Essex County for at least one year prior to applying for this micro-grant?
  • Is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident?
  • Is 18 years of age or older?
  • Is recognized as a professional, practicing artist by other artists working in the same field?
    *This means you are actively making art, not just thinking about it. You have shown your artwork or played music in public. Other artists doing similar work see you as a peer. If you are an undergrad student, you are not considered a professional artist yet.
  • Is a full-time artist who relies solely on the income generated from sales of your artwork or performing music to survive?
  • Has 5 to 10 years of experience creating visual art or music?

All eligible visual artists and musicians in Windsor-Essex are encouraged to apply for a micro-grant.

Arts Angel Applications

An “Arts Angel” is someone who applies for a micro-grant on behalf of a professional artist they know who could use some financial assistance but may not have the time to apply for a micro-grant, or doesn’t have a reliable internet connection, etc.

As long as the artist meets ALL of the eligibility criteria listed above, we are pleased to welcome your Arts Angel Micro-Grant Application.

The Jury

All micro-grant applications will be reviewed by a jury made up of community members recognized for the knowledge, skill, and expertise they bring to their artistic fields. The Board of Directors of WEA is responsible for their selection.

The decisions of this jury are final.

Personal information submitted by the applicants and discussions pertaining to the applicants’ submissions are held in strict confidentiality.
